So, some good news:
I will preface this by saying that I have extremely little to do with this but it is noteworthy. The Texas UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluations are starting to wind down and all the groups that I wrote drill for have gone. The goal for most high school bands in the state is to receive a first division (or a superior rating) in marching band, concert performance, and sightreading. If the varsity band (or top group) achieves that, they earn a sweepstakes trophy. This year, seven groups earned that honor. They are:
Brazosport High School – Dennis Boucher, Director
Columbia High School – Jared Hackett, Director
Willowridge High School – Sybil James, Director
Stafford High School – Rod Rodriguez, Director
Luling High School – Nathan Rolfe, Director
Runge High School – Coral Charles, Director
Big Spring High School – Gabe Martinez, Director
Big congratulations to these groups!! Good stuff!!
