I haven’t posted here in a few days. I haven’t really had a completed drill in a while. The past week to 10 days, I have had to do some rewrites for folks with some different numbers from what was expected. It does happen though it seems like more than usual. I hope that isn’t a sign of the times.
Anyway, I have now started all the shows but one. Rangeview High School from Aurora, CO, Dimmitt High School from Dimmitt, TX, Pasadena High School from Pasadena, TX, Rice High School from Altair, TX, Wolfson High School from Jacksonville, FL, and Monahans High School from Monahans, TX, have at least their openers. The total number of shows is 29 which breaks the record by six. Add to that four Creative Solutions drills and several adaptations for Marching Show Concepts, this has been quite a year!
On my personal Facebook page, I had mentioned that this is my 25th year as a band director and my 5th year at my current position as the director of bands at West Brazos Junior High in Brazoria, TX. This year, I will be attending the Midwest Clinic in Chicago in December for the first time ever and next June, to Cape Cod for a 2nd time to the Spirit of America Drill Writing Retreat with the incredible Craig Harms. The plans for 2019 are already beginning.
When all the shows are completed, I will show the Pyware animation videos here as I have done over the last few years.
