I’m going to double up tonight.
The twenty-fourth show that was completed for 2019 was for The Heights High School from Houston, Texas. Houston is in southeast Texas and is the 4th largest city in America. The school has 2,348 students which is the 2nd largest school that I write for and is classified as 6A in UIL Region 23. Their directors are Antwuan Walters and Stephen Becker and this is the first time I have done their show.
The show is entitled Summertime and is a medley of George Gershwin works. These arrangements are by Bob Chereste. It is in three movements and features Rhapsody in Blue, Summertime, Second Rhapsody, and An American in Paris. This was my favorite music book as I am a Gershwin nut.
The show has 50 sets which is the 2nd largest this year and would be considered a Grade 4.5 or of considerable difficulty. There were 135 members to this band (2nd largest) including 110 winds (3rd largest). This show was completed on September 10.
