So, this is what one does when he hasn’t been to work in three weeks!
Actually, that is not completely true. This show was a just for fun show I did several years ago. I called it Latin Variations and there is a reason for it (one of which is that I never really had done a Latin show at that point). The pieces are a bit of a mix. The opener is Children of Sanchez by Chuck Mangione and is arranged by Ralph Ford at Alfred Publishing. The 2nd tune is White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and is arranged by Tom Wallace for Arrangers Publishing. The closer is Malaguena arranged by Jay Bocook and Hal Leonard Publishing. This arrangement is the big boy arrangement.
Now, White Rabbit is not a Latin tune. It sounded Latin to me the first time I heard it but upon listening to the Jefferson Airplane version, it has very little to do with Latin music. But I think it fits this show.
The band is 84 winds, 11 percussion, and 20 colorguard. Let me know what you think.
