The twenty-ninth and final show completed for 2019 was for Monahans High School from Monahans, Texas. Monahans is the furthest west of all the bands that I write for about 35 miles southwest of Odessa. The school has 616 students and would be considered as a Class 4A high school in UIL Region 6. Their director is Joe Barrow and this is the 2nd time I have done their show.
Their show is an American themed show which I called American Band. There are various composers and arrangements to this one. The movements are We’re An American Band, Georgia on My Mind, The Magnificent Seven, Hoe Down from Rodeo, and God Bless the USA. As it turns out, they switched the opener with the Motown Get Ready but somehow used the same drill. Also, there were some cuts in the music which makes the video a little disjointed including no sound track for Magnificent Seven so it does not appear here.
The show had 35 sets and would be considered a Grade 3 or of moderate difficutly. There were 109 members to this band including 79 winds. This was the 3rd of 3 shows completed on September 29.
