The twenty-sixth show that was completed for 2019 was for Rice High School from Altair, Texas. Altair is about 55 miles due west of Houston. The school has 349 students and is classified as 3A in UIL Region 13 (this is the last of the Region 13 drills, 11 in all). Their director is Oscar Cano and this is the 5th time I have done their show.
Their show is entitled Candyland and it is by Nieves Villasenor. It is in five movements entitled The Adventure Begins, To the Forest We Go, Escape from Lord Licorice’s Trap, Princess Frosting, and The End.
The show has 34 sets and would be considered a Grade 3 or of moderate difficultly. Therie were 52 members to this band including 32 winds. This show was completed on September 20.
