The 55th show completed for 2026 is for Lamar University from Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont is in the southeast corner of the state about 20 miles from the Louisiana border and about 80 miles east of Houston. Their Director of Athletic Bands is Tim Pallone. This is the first time I have done their show and the first show I have done for a university group.
That leaves two more. South East is awaiting final approval and Desert Sunrise has a movement remaining which hopefully will be done in the next couple of days. The ending of drill writing season is just about here.
In other news:
I will be heading to the Alvin contest this weekend and probably the BOA contest in Alvin next weekend (the stadium is literally a mile away from me). On October 8, Anne and I will be heading to New Orleans for some R and R over that weekend. October 17, the day I usually call Super Saturday, I will be at Port Neches Grove judging the UIL Region 10 contest which will be a first for me. I am looking to make a trip to both Region 23 and 27’s contest and will probably make one trip to San Antonio for state and possibly seeing the UIL State Military Contest in Waco for the first time. I am not certain on that yet.
I am heading into fall at 94 degrees (which is the temperature here!)
