Orangefield High School finished 17th at the UIL 3A State Marching Band Contest. This was their first appearance at the state contest since 1980, 46 years ago. I was nine years old when that happened and moving to California from Syracuse, New York.
I have worked with this group for four years and they have been on the cusp. They broke through and had a great run today. Congratulations to Michael Rose, his staff, and the kids at Orangefield for a great performance.
This ends my Texas competitive season. I didn’t get a 2A, 4A, or 6A band in this year. My competitive season is not over yet. I have bands completing in their state contests in Maryland, Virginia, and Utah this coming Friday and Saturday. We’ll see how that goes.
Good stuff!!
